Red warning for parts of Kent
2nd January 2019
Kent County Council has issued a ‘red warning’ going into the weekend as an icy blast is predicted.
Gritters in the area will be out in force tomorrow (Thursday) and Friday as temperatures in the county are set to plunge below zero, as a cold front moves down from the arctic.
South East Water also issued a warning as burst water pipes have already affected homes and businesses in the region.
Steve Andrews, Head of Operations at South East Water said: “Burst pipes are a very unpleasant and inconvenient problem."
He said measures can be taken to protect pipes and taps by lagging them with free insulation kits and tap protectors available from their website or by buying industry approved lagging from DIY stores.
