Former Tunbridge Wells councillor 'used' by Conservatives

FORMER Hawkhurst Cllr Nathan Gray was used by South Thanet Tories to shield themselves against possible claims of illegal election spending, a court has heard.
The Conservative was constituency election agent to MP Craig Mackinlay in 2015. Alongside official Marion Little, they are alleged to have spent beyond limits to defeat UKIP’s Nigel Farage.
Gray’s defence lawyer told Southwark Crown Court last week South Thanet Conservatives positioned the inexperienced agent to take the onerous duty to escape any potential repercussion.
The trial continues.
