Cinema site sale rumour denied by Altitude

The Mead School in Tunbridge Wells gave a professional level performance in the ISA drama contests

DEVELOPER Altitude has addressed online rumours about the future of the cinema site.

The firm is looking to transform the derelict land on Mount Pleasant into The Belvedere, which will see 99 homes and boutique cinema built.

After years of wait for work to begin on the site, the construction is set to begin next summer. But rumours on social media suggested this might not be happening with a sale imminent.

Liberal Democrat campaigner Alan Bullion wrote on Facebook: ‘I hear the old cinema site in Tunbridge Wells is on the market yet again.’

In response, Altitude Director Stephen Tillman said: ‘No, the cinema site has not been sold.’ He also confirmed the site was ‘not up for sale’.
