Annual pram race takes place this weekend

THE Speldhurst Pram Race, a quirky event in which men, women and children dress up in costumes and push prams along the streets of Speldhurst, takes place again this Sunday May 12.

The event, which has been running on and off since 1980, will see races for all ages and awards for the best designed prams. 

The Gates to Speldhurst Rec will open at 10.45am and food and drink will be available from 11.00am onwards.

Participants include teachers from Speldhurst CEP School, Broomhill Bank School and the staff of Little Court Nursing Home.

The first race is scheduled to take place at around midday with the final race getting underway at 1pm.

Entry forms can be obtained from the George & Dragon Pub in Speldhurst, Speldhurst Post Office or by emailing thespeldhurstpramrace@gmail.com.

Entrants can pre-register up to and including this Friday and then they can also register on the day from 11am. Cycling or crash helmets must be worn by all (runners & Riders) who are entering the road races. Find out more at: https://www.facebook.com/SpeldhurstPramRace
