Wake up and smell the finest coffee as new festival comes to Tonbridge

Out Of The Box will be held at Tonbridge Castle on Saturday July 13 from 10am to 7pm.

It is organised by La Marzocco, manufacturers of deluxe espresso machines and grinders in Florence.

The first Out Of The Box was held in 2009 and was aimed at the coffee community but this year it is branching out to widen its appeal with all age groups.

The event will feature 20 of the UK’s finest speciality coffee roasters, barista workshops and ‘sensory coffee experiences’ with Falcon Coffees.

There will be live bands, local food and drink producers, cooking demonstrations and pop-up shops and cocktail masterclasses with Grey Goose Vodka.

An immersive virtual reality simulator will be installed by Roborace, designers of driverless electric racing cars.

There will be competitions including La Marzocco’s own ‘Crush the Rush’, panel discussions, face painting and other family activities.

After the day’s activities, the nearby Tonbridge Old Fire Station will host an after-party in the evening.

La Marzocco have been handcrafting espresso machines in Italy since 1927. Community events are key to the company’s success and ‘act as a physical embodiment of the Italian hospitality that runs through its veins’.

Paul Kelly, General Manager of La Marzocco UK & Ireland, said: “Living in Kent myself, I am always inspired and impressed on the array of choices when it comes to summer festivals and unique food and drink experiences.

Hosting the event outside of London shows continued support to the speciality food and coffee communities outside of the capital city.

“It represents our commitment to the larger food and drink scene in the UK, and will bring together more like-minded brands and companies than ever before.”

He added: “We’ve wanted to host a summer edition of Out Of The Box since our first London edition in 2014 and we knew that Tonbridge Castle was the perfect setting.

“We can’t wait to meet and connect with the local community, and to invite our existing network to this inspired setting.”
