Two charged with car park murder

Premier Inn Tunbridge Wells

Police have charged two men with murder following the death of another man in a town centre car park.

The body of Giles Metcalfe, 43 was found during the early hours of Tuesday March 7 in a stair well at Torrington car park opposite the station. He is known to have come from the local area.

James Marshall-Gunn, 29, of Hadlow Road, Tonbridge appeared before Medway Magistrates Court on Monday [March 13] following his arrest the previous day.

Last week Dean Lewis, aged 34 and of no fixed address, was charged with the same offence.

Police had been called to the first floor of the car park by Kent Fire and Rescue. Provisional post-mortem results indicate Mr Metcalfe died from the effects of a fire.

Both Marshall-Gunn and Lewis have been separately remanded to Maidstone Crown Court.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward. Call 01622 604100, quoting reference 07-0088.
