RADIO presenter Debbie McGee, wife of the late magician Paul Daniels, handed out the certificates at the Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust’s Staff Stars Awards at the Hop Farm near Paddock Wood this month.
This year a record number of nominations were put forward by staff and patients – the Trust has more than 5,500 employees.
The nursing team on the Hedgehog children’s ward in Tunbridge Wells Hospital at Pembury won the Team Respect Award.
The Patient First Award went to Dawn Mepham, an Occupational Therapist at Pembury, while Roz -Barwell, Ward Manager of Ward 20, claimed the runner-up spot.
The Trust took over the management of Crowborough Birth Centre this year, and Karen Leeson, the centre’s Manager, won the Individual Delivery Award.
The Neonatal Unit at Pembury was also named runner-up in the Team Excellence Award.
Ms McGee said: “It was a great honour to be part of the Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust’s Staff Awards. It is so important to recognise the wonderful work they all do.
“Long may people want to look after us all in so many different ways. I think the staff deserve medals.”
A charity raffle on the night raised over £700 for the ‘Cup of Kindness’ charity, which helps to relieve sickness and promote the health of patients in hospitals and hospices.
