ALTERED IMAGES: TOM TUGENDHAT’S POSTERS CONTINUE TO BE DEFACED

The electorate of Leybourne have once again been showing their imagination when it comes to the identity of their prospective local MP. In the General Election two years ago the villagers literally defaced Tom Tugendhat’s giant campaign poster on Castle Way, giving him a variety of alternative personalities. Mr Tugendhat tweeted last week: “Last election I ran as Tom Selkirk [sic], Mr T, Mrs T(hatcher),
and any number of others thanks to friends in Leybourne. Well, the sign’s up… your call!!” Since then he has been replaced by two knights in Sir Bruce Forsyth and Sir Elton John, a king, Elvis Presley, and a space ranger, Buzz Lightyear of Toy Story. Other incarnations have portrayed him as Peter Griffin in the cartoon Family Guy, and former footballer turned I’m a Celebrity… contender Ian Wright. Just yesterday (Tuesday) Mr Tugendhat’s official poster in Leybourne was altered. This time it was Dame Judi Dench’s face which was put up in place of the Conservative candidate for Tonbridge & Malling.
