Tonbridge pupil wins writing prize

Congratulations are in order for a Hilden Oaks pupil who was awarded bronze in BBC Radio 2’s ‘500 words’ writing competition this morning.

Francesca Wade, aged 7 was one of 28 finalists in the age 5 to 9 category for the short story competition featured on Chris Evans’ morning show.

Her story, Agent Ramsbottom and the mysterious fish and chips was one of 135,000 entries, and was read aloud live on air, before Francesca was presented with her award by presenter and comedian Dara O’Brien.

The winning entries were selected by a panel of judges, including Charlie Higson, Francesca Simon, Frank Cottrell Boyce, Malorie Blackman and Honorary Judge, Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cornwall.
