Hadlow Bowls Club welcomed the Mayor of Tonbridge & Malling, Mark Rhodes, to join in the club’s 80th birthday celebrations on July 23.
The Mayor tried his hand on the green and enjoyed a strawberry tea with the Mayoress, his wife Julie Rhodes, other councillors and current and former members.
The club is based on School Lane in Hadlow, having moved from the original site on Appletons Road in 1963.
They have recently won the Division Two title in the Sevenoaks Men’s League, and are also members of the Weald Mixed League.
There are also many ‘friendly’ matches against neighbouring clubs at the weekends.
Anyone wishing to try lawn bowls at a friendly club is welcome to visit.
The club can provide all the necessary equipment and will also offer training for those who are playing for the first time.
