Tonbridge man sentenced to 18 years for multiple sex offences

Christopher Hutson was convicted of crimes from 2014-18 including the filming of himself raping a child.

Hutson, of Lodge Oak Lane, was arrested on July 10. He was charged and remanded in custody pending his court appearance.

The 58-year-old pleaded guilty at Maidstone Crown Court to two counts of rape of a child under 13 years of age, six counts of sexual activity with a child, four counts of taking indecent images of a child and two counts of possessing indecent photographs of a child.

Hutson was sentenced at the same court today [November 9]. The judge also imposed an indefinite sexual harm prevention order and he will serve a minimum of 14 years in prison.

Detective Inspector Matthew Basford, a senior investigating officer for the case, said: “Hutson is a depraved individual who has not shown any remorse for his appalling actions over a number of years.

“The court has noted the level of his offending and it is only right that he is to serve a substantial prison sentence.

“I would like to commend the bravery of the victim, who showed great courage in coming forward to report the abuse and help us bring this man to justice.”
