Tonbridge Lions tour countryside in style with array of classic cars

Alex Town, Managing Director of one of the event’s sponsors, Towns Heating & Plumbing Supplies, was the official starter for the tour at Tonbridge Castle.

The drivers and their passengers then travelled through the countryside before having lunch at Oakwood House in Maidstone.

They returned by a different route to the castle, where they were greeted by Lions President Lofty Bunyon and his wife Joan. To round off the day, the participants enjoyed a cream tea in the grounds.

The event raised £1,600 for the Lions’ Charitable Trust Fund.

The 53 vehicles that took part represented a varied cross-section of classic cars spanning more than 80 years.

The Chairman of the Lions Committee, Mike Edwards, said: “This was the sixth year we have held the event and a lot of entrants from previous years joined us again. It was a great day.”

The Lions would like to thank estate agents Martin & Co, Hadlow Stair Garage and Towns for their sponsorship and Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council for the use of the car park.
