Tonbridge Lions' barrel organ collection ends on happy note for needy

TONBRIDGE LIONS CLUB’s annual barrel organ collection managed to raise £2,896 in the fortnight before Christmas to help the needy in the town.

The nostalgic music-maker was sited at the Farmers’ Market, outside supermarkets and in Tonbridge High Street.

The Mayor of Tonbridge & Malling, Councillor Roger Dalton, and local MP Tom Tugendhat visited the Lions’ collectors in the High Street.

Lions’ President Gordon Hill said of the collection, which started in 1952: “We are delighted with the response this year and send our thanks to the generous people of the town.”
