Tonbridge care home gets wellies out for summer

The Beavers donated their old wellington boots and helped the home’s residents to plant donated flowers in them as garden ornaments.

During the summer term the Beavers have been focusing on planting in the community, which fitted in with the residents’ activities at Barnes Lodge. Last term, the Beavers focused on cooking, making home-made pizzas to earn their cooking badges.

Barnes Lodge will welcome them back next term to explore a Christmas theme.

Katie Samuels, the home’s activities co-ordinator, said: “Our residents absolutely love seeing the children and working on a different theme each term.

“It was such a lovely evening, the sun was shining, and I could see how much both the children and the residents were loving planting the wellies and spending time together.

“We can’t wait to have them back.”
