The Barn in Tunbridge Wells celebrates its 25 years by supporting lifeboats charity

THE BARN pub and restaurant in Tunbridge Wells has focused its charitable efforts on helping the Royal National Lifeboat Institution [RNLI] as part of its 25th anniversary celebrations.

For three months, The Barn, in Lonsdale Gardens, has organised fundraising activities on behalf of the RNLI, and on November 4 owner Patrick McGuire presented the charity’s Tunbridge Wells Branch Chairman Malcolm Poole with a cheque for £1,915.

Two crew members from Tower RNLI, on the Thames in London, were also present, and said the money would help them keep saving lives at sea and source necessary equipment to ensure the volunteer lifeboat crews are also kept safe.

Fellow owner Ron Zanre said: “We are particularly proud to be associated with the RNLI as the focus has been on Respect The Water, which is such a worthwhile lifesaving campaign highlighting the simple skills required to save someone from drowning.”
