Student brings artistic flair to store

Oxfam’s shop window in Tonbridge has been catching the eye of shoppers thanks to the creative work of a student volunteer.

Ellie Lloyd has spent the past month helping out in the High Street charity shop and she responded to the challenge of sprucing up its frontage by painting an attractive woodland scene on the window.

The 21-year-old, who is studying illustration at Falmouth University, said: “I am about to start my third year at university, where I have been studying both digital and traditional illustration, as it’s something I’ve always wanted to do as a career.

“I decided on a nature scene for the shop window, as we have quite a lot of books on walks in Kent here, though it is just a temporary illustration.

“I’m now working on a new shop window display, which will have a science-fiction theme to it.”
