STEPHEN SUTTON will be running his fifth London Marathon this month and is raising money for the Quest School near Paddock Wood and Scope, which supports people with cerebral palsy.
The Quest School is an independent specialist school, registered to take pupils across the autistic spectrum aged 5 to 19.
It was founded in 2003 by a group of parents and Applied Behavioural Analysis (ABA) professionals. It is the only ABA school in Kent.
Quest has a range of targets for its pupils, from carrying out everyday tasks independently to achieving nationally recognised accreditation at Key Stage 4 and 5.
Stephen, from Paddock Wood, works for Tunbridge Wells jewellers G Collins & Sons, who have been strong supporters of Quest.
The company will hold an inaugural charity golf day at Dale Hill in Ticehurst, East Sussex on June 28 to raise money for the school.
The 45-year-old, a member of Paddock Wood Athletic Club, has run six marathons since 2010, and previously concentrated his fundraising efforts on Scope.
“My son Jack was born with cerebral palsy and although his condition is mild – and we think ourselves lucky for this – it does impact on his everyday life. So it’s my way of giving those who aren’t so lucky a little help.”
Jack, now 21, experiences weakness in his joints but goes to the gym regularly and has recently started running with his father.
“He’s been going out on runs with me for the last month, He’s Hefor three or four miles at a time,” adds Stephen. “He’s actually surprisingly sprightly.”
