Santa Claws comes to town: Dogs need hugs and homes

RESCUE hounds dressed in their festive best greeted Christmas shoppers in Tunbridge Wells last week.

Volunteers from the Forever Hounds Trust were out in the town to raise awareness of the plight of ex-racing greyhounds and lurchers.

They were also raising money to help feed the dogs in kennels who are still waiting for a home.

The Trust aims to rescue and rehabilitate these special animals and finds homes for around 400 dogs a year. They received plenty of hugs, strokes and treats from passers-by. Louise Clarkson, a volunteer for the charity, said: “Our huggable hounds were a huge hit with the public.

“They attracted lots of attention in their Christmas outfits, and maybe we’ll find homes for some more of our hounds in kennels.”
