Tonbridge Grammar School is celebrating its biggest success ever, as a total of 157 pupils received their International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma qualifications.
Among those achieving impressive results was Lydia Bunt, who gained the maximum score possible of 45, and will be going on to study Modern Languages at Cambridge.
A further four teenagers scored 44 points including Teigan Berre, who will also go on to Cambridge to study Psychology and Behavioural Sciences, Jennifer French, going to Warwick to take Physics, as well as twins Dominic and Lucy White, with Dominic opting for Computer Science at Durham and Lucy going on to Cambridge to study Natural Sciences respectively.
Half of the year group scored 38 or above, which is considered equivalent to four grades of A* at A-Level, with 85 per cent of this year’s graduates achieving an equivalent of three A* grades.
Under the IB system, pupils receive their grades earlier than traditional A-Levels, enabling them to determine their university places before the summer holidays.
Tonbridge Grammar School’s Head Teacher, Rosemary Joyce, said: “These results are truly exceptional. Our students are to be congratulated for their outstanding achievement.
“Not only are our students among the very best in the world academically, but we know their diploma experience has equipped them more broadly with the skills and qualities that universities and employers prize.”
