Quiz to help the homeless through The Bridge Trust

THE BRIDGE TRUST is holding a quiz night at the Mercure Hotel in Pembury, which has chosen the homeless organisation as its charity of the year.

Teams can be between four and eight people, but those who cannot make the numbers are welcome to join other teams.

The event will be held on February 2 from 7pm and tickets cost £15 per person, including food. The hotel will donate a percentage of the takings at the bar to the Trust and there will be a raffle.

The Bridge Trust, based in Tonbridge, provides good quality accommodation and support services for single homeless adults in West Kent.

It received a significant donation from the Tonbridge Lions at the end of last year which made it possible for staff to take the residents on a Christmas outing.

Fundraising Officer Becky Butterwick said: “Bowling is chosen each year as it is a fun social event that all ages and abilities can take part in. Thus ensued the usual matches.

“The main goal was to prevent Adrian Hill of our support staff from keeping his crown as bowling champion from the previous year.”

She added: “Christmas can be a difficult time for residents and sharing a festive time together can make all the difference.

“Both staff and residents benefit from this as it creates another dimension to working relationships and provides the chance to leave problems behind and enjoy something together.”
