Commuters using Eridge and Crowborough railway stations are suffering a ‘poor service’, according to Wealden MP Nus Ghani.
She raised concerns about the performance of the Southern franchise on the London to Uckfield line with rail minister Paul Maynard.
Ms Ghani said: “The Uckfield line suffers from frequent cancellations, often multiple trains in a row, with little or no useful explanation.
“The lack of alternative transport causes untold problems for many Wealden commuters who are paying for a service which isn’t delivered by Southern.
“My constituents deserve better, but there has been no sign of improvement within recent months.”
The MP spoke out after season ticket fares were hiked by an average of 3.4 per cent on all lines from the start of the year.
“I will continue to push hard to ensure that Southern provide a service fit for the needs of Wealden,” she added.
“Starting 2018 with a poor service and impending strike action once again explains why the Uckfield line is often branded the misery line.”
Mr Maynard has confirmed he will meet with chiefs from Govia Thameslink Railway, who own Southern, and has invited Ms Ghani to attend.
The line also serves Buxted, Ashurst and Hever. Last year, around 400,000 people used Crowborough station and 120,000 used Eridge.
