More rail disruption for Tonbridge passengers

The Fairfax Gallery 2

Tonbridge rail passengers using Southern Rail services were faced with three more days of delays and disruptions from yesterday [Tuesday] as the 72-hour Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers’ Union (RMT) strike began.

The long and bitter dispute has left passengers travelling towards Redhill having to rely on heavily reduced services or buses during peak hours.

The Vice-Chairman of the Tonbridge Line Commuters group, John Reynolds, expressed his disappointment that the line to Redhill would only be served during peak hours.

He said: “This is a vital link for passengers wishing to use Gatwick Airport and also for many people along that route who work in Tonbridge, or who wish to come here for shopping and leisure activities.”
