Thuan Dinh, 51, of Rowan Mews in Tonbridge was arrested on Friday. He and the victim are known to each other.
Mr Dinh was also charged with possession of a knife in a public place and breaching a restraining order.
Officers were called to the VCC Boutique nail bar at 9.18am and the victim, who is in her 40s, was taken to Tunbridge Wells Hospital for treatment.
Kent Police said she had sustained critical injuries consistent with stab wounds, but her condition was described as stable.
Detective Inspector Garry Cook of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate said: “We are currently making a number of enquiries, and crime scene investigators are working at the scene.
“We have established that both parties are known to each other, and if anyone has information about the incident please contact us.”
