THE Southborough and District Lions Club have begun their annual door-to-door Christmas collections in the local area for the 35th year.
The charitable organisation will be visiting various locations, including Southborough, High Brooms, Pembury, Langton Green and Tunbridge Wells on nine evenings over the festive period.
Father Christmas accompanied the collectors on a colourful and sparkling sleigh for their first outing in the Pennington Road area of Southborough, handing out gifts to children on the route.
The first evening, on December 5, raised £385, which will go towards assembling and distributing Christmas food hampers for elderly residents and others who are considered deserving.
