Good times are calling in Tonbridge

PLANS are already underway for a summer of fun in Tonbridge as the dates are announced for major events in the town.

Organised by Tonbridge Lions Club, the annual Carnival and Fete will be held on Sunday June 18 with a large procession of bands, walking groups, floats and majorettes.

Afterwards the fete will be held on Castle Lawn and in Castle Walk, where the winning processions will be announced.

Anyone can take part and the theme this year will be ‘Famous Families’ – leaving plenty of room for interpretation.

Tonbridge Calling

Then on Saturday August 12, Tonbridge Calling will be returning to present another feast of music, arts, food and drink.

Those behind the festival hope to make the event even bigger than last year, which saw Bourne Valley Boys, Orange Circus, We Ghosts, Ivor Pop and Sam Dunstall all appear free of charge.

Organiser Fred Long said: “Last year’s event went beyond my expectation; over 1,000 happy Tonbridge people enjoying a summer’s afternoon with friends. We have set the bar high for 2017 but I truly believe that, with our wonderful community’s support, we can repeat 2016’s success.”
