Foundation hands out £62k to support community causes

CHARITIES and voluntary organisations in the Tunbridge Wells area have received £62,651 in the latest round of grants from the Kent Community Foundation [KCF].

The foundation seeks to identify and support smaller grassroots organisations who are bringing direct benefit to local people with a range of different needs.

  • Projects funded in the three months from July to September are: Imago Community £5,000 (social action delivering diverse services)
  • Tunbridge Wells Welcomes Refugees £2,000
  • Compaid Trust £5,000 (people with multiple disabilities) and £4,231 (disability and access issues for the elderly)
  • Nourish Community Foodbank £4,920
  • Paddock Wood Community Advice Centre £10,000
  • St George’s Community Children’s Project £2,000
  • Tunbridge Wells Counselling Centre £2,000 (people with mental health issues)
  • West Kent Mediation £5,000 (family advice)
  • West Kent YMCA £7,500 (for those aged 16 to 24 who are not in education, employment or training)
  • Tunbridge Wells and District Volunteer Bureau T/A Community Car Service £7,000 (disability and access issues for the elderly)
  • Trinity Theatre & Arts Centre £8,000 (social inclusion for children and young people)
