Isenhurst Health Clubs in East Sussex have launched a naked charity calendar to raise money for the Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance Trust.

The 15 participating members were selected in a social media campaign. They include a carpenter, company director, classic car restorer, hair stylist, ante-natal practitioner and yoga teacher.

Fashion photographer Jenny Brough took the shots, using gym equipment and camera angles to protect the models’ modesty.

Dan Sanger, Manager of Isenhurst Health Clubs, said: “This wasn’t about being body beautiful, but about being comfortable enough in your own skin to take part.

“We had members putting themselves forward due to personal triumph – like those who have lost a lot of weight – and those wanting to put personal bravery to the test.

One of the models, Jess Hardy, 28, from Rotherfield said: “I’ve lost nearly five stone in two years. Taking part in the calendar was a big deal for me.

“I used to do a lot of amateur dramatics and performing, but over the years I have lost my confidence due to my weight.

“I wanted to prove to myself that I could do this calendar, without losing my nerve. It was such a liberating experience and everyone on the shoot made me feel at ease.

She added: “The charity was a big pull too. I witnessed a horrific car accident once when someone had to be airlifted to hospital.

“It is important for everyone in the Kent, Sussex and Surrey areas to be aware of how important the Air Ambulance Trust is and the amazing work they do.”

The calendar costs £13 and will be available to buy at the receptions of all three Isenhurst Health Clubs in Cross In Hand, Crowborough and Uckfield. For more information, visit www.isenhurst.co.uk
