Seven pubs are taking part in the event, which begins at midday on Friday January 31 and runs until 11pm on Sunday February 2.

All the venues are within walking distance in the town centre and each has chosen a different brewery that they will feature over the three days. They will decide independently how they wish to work with their chosen brewery.

The inaugural Beer Weekend is being organised by Sam Allen, the owner of the Beer Seller pub on the High Street.

Mr Allen, who also owns the Halfway House at Brenchley, opened the Beer Seller on the site of the old John Angell jewellers in 2018, ‘bringing the country pub to the high street’.

He told the Times: “We want to create a real party atmosphere within the town. The event is all about promoting Tonbridge’s ever improving drinking scene.

“I have always loved the idea of pubs and bars in a town working together – after all, for people to come to an area you can’t rely on one pub.

“You need an eclectic and varied style of bars, pubs and restaurants.”

The weekend will feature an Ale Trail Map, detailing a walking route between the pubs to encourage people to try more than one venue.

The pub crawl stretches from the north of town with the George and Dragon in Shipbourne Road to the Foresters Arms in Quarry Hill Road – with the Nelson on Cromer Street providing a slight detour.

Mr Allen added: “There will be a range of activities to accompany the tasting, including meet-the-brewer sessions, talks, live music and quizzes etc.”

More details will be announced on social media over the next few weeks.
