Deck your bus with boughs of holly…

Nelson Arms 3

NOW we know why Father Christmas was missing from the Tonbridge Christmas Festival this year – he was busy driving the 211 bus between Barden Park and Tonbridge Cottage Hospital.

Passengers using the route over the last couple of weeks have boarded the single decker, which is driven by horse power rather than reindeer power, to find it decked out in Christmas decorations and Santa Claus at the wheel.

Driver Stuart Benton, who is the man behind the white beard, came up with the idea to help put a smile on people’s faces.

Stuart said: “Christmas can be a testing time and if I can do anything to make someone smile then it’s a job well done. The response from my passengers and the public has been just great”.

Passenger Dave Mac said: “I think it’s fantastic. What a lovely man for doing such a nice thing. It has been great to see everyone’s face light up as the bus goes through Tonbridge High Street. I wish him a very Merry Christmas, he deserves it”.
