Cutbacks not felt in town restaurant

ITALIAN eatery Frankie and Benny’s in Knights Park is not one of the 41 UK branches facing closure. The Restaurant Group (TRG), who own the chain, is making cuts after two years of falling profits.

TRG, which employs 15,000, is also looking to revamp its Garfunkel’s and Chiquito brands during what is difficult period for the restaurant industry as a whole.

Frankie and Benny’s has 258 branches nationally. The Tunbridge Wells eatery has been a presence alongside Odeon cinema for a number of years.

Customers might see discounts in the coming period with TRG thought to be offering cut prices, making the restaurant a short term hit in view of making a long term gain.

Poor box-office performance of major films this Cutbacks not felt in town restaurant summer may also have hit Frankie and Benny’s with many other restaurants also near to cinema sites.

TRG’s profit fell to £77.1million last year from £86.8million in 2015 as other restaurants, such as Prezzo and Pizza Express, seek to cut costs.
