THE Christmas Collective II, the second charity shopping evening held at The Spa Hotel, raised £1,200 for two local causes, the Pickering Cancer Drop-in Centre in Tunbridge Wells and Taylor-Made Dreams in Crowborough.
The event is organised by local businesswomen Emma Buchanan of Little Mole Boutique and Emma Donovan of Peas-in-a-Pod to showcase the wares of small independent retailers and designers while also raising money for worthy causes.
Taylor-Made Dreams enables children with life- limiting illnesses to fulfil their wishlists and offers holistic care and counselling for their families.
Suzi Mitchell, the founder, said: “What an event it was! Being such a tiny charity in an ocean of worthy causes we rely greatly on the support of local fundraising and corporates as we do not receive any government funding.
“A wonderful event run by wonderful ladies, we sincerely thank them, the stallholders and all who supported the festive gathering.”
The Pickering Cancer Drop-in Centre offers counselling and advice for those suffering from cancer and their families, as well as therapies, nutritional advice and yoga – all free of charge.
Polly Taylor, co-founder of Pickering, added: “Wow, what a wonderful event yet again. Great support from everybody, the atmosphere was very warm and humbling towards the two charities.
“It certainly was an amazing evening. Thank you to everyone who supported the Christmas Collective and big hugs to the two Emmas.”
Emma Buchanan said: “I’m over the moon that we managed to raise £1,200, and knowing it will do such good at these two amazing charities is the best Christmas present.”
