THE Blue Bird K3 powerboat held its official test run at Bewl Water on Tuesday [September 26]. Originally commissioned to keep the world water speed record in British hands, it has been restored using parts made to the same standard of the original powerboat of Sir Malcom Campell, which set three world records – the last in Lake Halwyl, Switzerland in 1938, when it reached 130.91mph.
