Baxall and BDHL show kind heart of business

New Chief Executive to lead ellenor's ambitious projects
Vikki Harding has been appointed Chief Executive of ellenor

ellenor’s Accumulator Challenge, a competition for businesses, has raised £7,171 for the hospice charity, with Baxall Construction named as last year’s winner.

This figure will help to pay for 233 hours of play therapy for ellenor’s young patients and their siblings to help them understand the emotions they are experiencing.

Twelve companies took part in ellenor’s first Accumulator Challenge, including Fairfield Leisure, Sankey’s, the Tunbridge Wells branch of Handelsbanken and RBS Dartford and Knocker & Foskett.

Each company was handed a crisp £50 note and given three months to increase it to as large a figure as possible to support families facing terminal illness.

The Paddock Wood building firm, led by Managing Director Malcolm Clarke, raised £3,684.79 by making birthday cakes made to order and running a football team scratch card competition as well as a raffle.

BDHL, a health insurance company based at Lamberhurst Vineyard, received the Community Engagement Award after undertaking a 100,000-mile bench rowing challenge, a bake sale and raffle and raising £1,503.93.

“We really appreciate all the hard work which companies put into supporting our very first Accumulator Challenge,” says Kate Barnes, ellenor’s Area Fundraising Manager.

“The amount raised will help us to continue providing vital support to local families facing terminal illness.”
