Bags of Help pave way for Tonbridge playground path

The Mead School in Tunbridge Wells gave a professional level performance in the ISA drama contests

HAYSDEN Country Park in Tonbridge now has a new footpath around the children’s play area thanks to Tesco’s Bags of Help in-store community donation scheme.

Shoppers voted in their hundreds for the park plan, which received the second prize cash
award of £2,000.

Tesco works with Groundwork on its Bags of Help funding, which sees grants raised from carrier bag sales in Tesco stores being awarded to local community projects.

Cllr Maria Heslop, Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Services, said: ‘Thank you to everyone that voted for Haysden Country Park.

‘We’re delighted to have received this grant, which has allowed work to go ahead to improve access around the play area, and has helped us to continue to make the country park an even better place for visitors to enjoy.

‘I’m sure there will be many parents who will appreciate not having to traipse their shoes or pushchairs across the grassed areas on soggy days – me included – and children will now have better access to the play equipment.’

Alec Brown, Head of Community at Tesco, said: ‘We are absolutely delighted to be able to fund some fantastic projects, and it’s great to see these come to life in communities.’
