A feast of fun at Tonbridge Medieval Fayre

The town’s castle proved a perfect backdrop for the Medieval Fayre, which attracted huge crowds over the weekend.

Thousands of visitors turned out to catch the event alongside the Dragon Boat racing, as scenes from a bygone age kept families thoroughly entertained.

Among the fair’s highlights were meet-and-greet bird of prey sessions, medieval combat displays, and demonstrations of traditional metalworking and cookery, plus have-a-go archery.

There was also an array of craft and food stalls, complemented by an appearance from a host of medieval characters, including knights, maidens, jesters and bards to transport Tonbridge back into its ancient past. Tonbridge & Malling Mayor Mark Rhodes was particularly impressed with all the lively festivities.

He said: “It is so pleasing to see people enjoying the full aspects of the castle and the river. I would like to thank all those who have made it a success. It has been a real crowd-puller.”
