Triathlon: Tunbridge Wells veteran puts hip surgery behind her in East Grinstead

She finished second in the 60-plus age group, clocking a new personal best for the event,
1hr 37min 41 sec – all the more impressive since she recently had a hip replacement.

Richard Bysouth finished ninth V40, Jennifer Rhodes 18th Senior, Thomas Readman 29th Senior and Joshua Dale 40th Senior in the sprint distance of 400m swim, 26km bike and 5km run.

In the Aquabike, Nick Austen was second male V45 and Steven Dunkerley third V55.

In the Ladies only Tri event, Rowena Lennox Howey finished 15th overall in 55 minutes.

Neil Couchman and David Bagge kicked off the duathlon series at Gravesend cyclopark strongly by coming second and fifth overall respectively.

At the Tonbridge triathlon Michael Thomson topped his age group male V50 in the standard distance (800m swim, 50km bike, 10km run), winning in a time of 2:38.54, while Adam Dennis came second in male V40 in 2:38.46.

In the sprint distance Alex Holmes finished second in male V40 in 1:20.41, James Sarre was fourth with 1:23.30 – in only his second ever triathlon – and Nick Austen was seventh, while Graham Hubbard was 17th in male V50.

In a Go-tri event for beginners Naoise Kronholm finished strongly on the track to come home second female V40. Nicola Griffiths and Sarah Grimshaw were seventh and 14th in the senior female age group respectively in the swim-run aquathon after the bike leg had to be abandoned because of a road accident.
