Richard Bysouth and Stephen Dunkerley competed in the Aquabike (1.9km swim and 90km cycle) with Graham Hubbard taking part in the Sprint Triathlon (750m swim, 20km cycle, 5km run).

The race, one of the fastest in the South East, started with a swim in Lydd Lake, then a flat bike route on scenic country roads through Lydd, Brooklands and Camber.

The cycle section was eventful for all three competitors. Dunkerley crashed on a roundabout but still completing the race before requiring medical attention.

Meanwhile Hubbard missed a turning and rode an extra 10km, while Bysouth had a near-miss with a rabbit at high speed.

Bysouth (M40-44) finished second in his age category in 3hr 8min 13sec and Dunkerley (M55-59) came third in age group with a time of 3:24.16.

Both are hoping to use these impressive results to qualify for the 2020 European Championships in Austria.
