TONBRIDGE JUDDIANS ran in seven tries but then saw Tunbridge Wells come back strongly in a pre-season practice match of four quarters with rolling substitutes.

The contest started evenly with the home side containing TJs’ constant attacks.

But after 10 minutes a penalty saw the ball moved quickly down the back line for wing Murray Galbraith-Lowe to score.

Two more tries came TJs’ way in the first quarter as they began to exert more pressure, first from the lively wing Ade Lipede, then from centre Robert White in a sweeping move directly from the restart.

In the second quarter TJs continued to have the better of the game. No 8 Will Colderick scored after a lengthy handling move and White added a second, Will Robinson converting both.

Tunbridge Wells enjoyed a good spell and took advantage of TJs’ open play, and scored a converted try of their own before half-time through Academy winger Jake Smith.

The home side continued to see more of the play after half-time but White added his third try and Colderick his second, both the result of all-round team play. Tom Simmons, coming on at fly-half, converted both.

The final quarter saw Tunbridge Wells finish strongly and Richard Webster scored when a TJs pass off the base of the scrum was intercepted by the centre, who sprinted for the line.
