Football: Tonbridge Angels Ladies prepare for semi-final clash with Maidstone

28th February 2019

TONBRIDGE ANGELS Ladies host Maidstone United at Longmead Stadium this Sunday March 3 in a vital Kent County Plate semi-final.

The two sides are arch rivals in the league, battling for promotion in the South East Counties Division One East.

The contest is expected to be evenly matched but the Angels will be looking for a repeat of their 4-1 league win over the Stones back in October.

The visitors are seeking revenge for that shock result, having won all four encounters between the sides the previous season.

It is the second semi-final the Angels have reached this season, having also progressed to the last four of the Chairman’s Cup.

Their knockout form has come as welcome relief after the side slipped to three consecutive defeats in the league at the start of 2019.

With no game scheduled for the third consecutive week, Tonbridge warmed up for the game with a 5-1 friendly win away to Diamond United on Sunday.

Sara Walker scored a hat-trick with Becky Janes and Becky Mackley also finding the net in a comprehensive victory.

The match kicks off at 2pm. Entry to the game on Sunday is £2 with Programme for Adults and all children get in free.
