Football: Holmesdale make Rusthall pay for slack finishing

RUSTHALL were held to a draw on their return to the Southern Counties East League First Division after relegation.

But with four promotion slots up for grabs this season they are hoping to bounce straight back to the Premier Division.

The Rustics were out of the traps quicker than the visitors, playing out from the back and using the pace of Reuel Powell-Downey to good effect.

He should have put the home team ahead but his lob went over the crossbar.

After 16 minutes a poor clearance by Holmesdale saw Luke Adams neatly round the keeper to slot the ball into an empty net.

The home side should have increased their lead but were guilty of some slack finishing and at half-time the score was still 1-0.

The second half was a role reversal with the Dalers in the ascendancy,.

They duly equalised on 55 minutes when an unmarked Jordan Eels headed firmly into the net from a corner.
