Athletics: Tunbridge Wells Harriers steal narrow lead over rivals Orpington
15th May 2019
TUNBRIDGE WELLS Harriers were out in force for the Darent Valley 10K, which forms part of the Kent Grand Prix for local running clubs, taking in the villages of Farningham and Lullingstone.
Andy Howey was first home for the club in 37min 4sec and first in the M50 category, with Keith Mitchell (38.02), Mike King (38.44), Tobyn Young (39.37) and Alex Holmes (39.42) all breaking the 40 minute mark.
Cathy Gill (44.13) led home the women followed by Jillian Holford (45.00) and Hayley Larkin (45.47).
So the Harriers gained a small advantage over Orpington Road Runners in both the men’s and women’s event but the rivals remain neck-and-neck halfway through the season.
Jane Roome took second place overall in the multi-lap, multi-terrain Pulborough Vineyard Half Marathon in West Sussex.
