With 12 recently refurbished bedrooms, two function rooms, dining area, bar and outside seating Bowes Hospitality’s newest pub The Royal Oak is focused on community, families and celebrating the traditional of a local pub as the hub of its village.
In the past six months the pub has held a number of family focused events with live music, charity fund raising, barbecues and even a live firing show by the local smugglers re-enactment gang.
On the bar, local beers like Cellarhead Amitola feature alongside national favourites like Madris and Guinness. Our selection of local gins, non-alcoholic alternatives and a wine list focused on quality, accessible wines, will all appeal to wide audience. Whether you’re popping in for a glass of bubbly with your girlfriends or a having post-match pint with some mates you’re certain to find something for everyone.
Food at the Royal Oak is as important to us as anything else. Our Sunday roasts, priced from £16, are quickly becoming the go-to roasts in the area and we’re particularly proud to be buying all our meats from Park Farm butchers ensuring buying local is high on our list of priorities.

Local meat, vegetarian options, lashings of gravy and possibly the best roast potatoes on the planet.
With fresh fish from Chapmans of Sevenoaks and much of our fruit and veg from Kent producers we are confident our offer matches in terms of taste, price and quality with anyone in the area. As we head into the winter our menu will start to become focused on slow cooking, braising and of course no pub would be worth its salt without a decent pie on the menu. We can’t wait to get the fires lit and start to enjoy the cosy winter nights in Hawkhurst.
With our weekly sell out Friday Night Smokehouse event this is testament to our dedication to quality food with slow cooked ribs, brisket and wings all featuring on our one night only menu if you haven’t been yet you really should. The food is outstanding.

For Christmas Day we will feature a traditional Turkey Roast for £65 per adult and £35 for children under the age of 12. We will be decorating the pub with traditional Christmas Fayre and will have a number of events planned throughout the holiday season to keep you all in the festive spirit.
