Love Where You Live

Tom Swift of Wicked Productions, who are putting on their Aladdin pantomime at the EM Forster Theatre from December 8–31, tells us where he likes to stroll, shop and socialise…

Whereabouts do you live in the Borough of Tunbridge Wells?

I live in High Brooms.

How long have you lived there and what made you decide to move to the area?

I have lived in High Brooms for seven years now and lived in Tunbridge Wells all my life. I really wouldn’t want to be anywhere else – well maybe a beach in Jamaica would be nice!

Are there any nice views or walks near to your home?

We go to Dunorlan Park to feed the ducks and have a nice walk around the lake.

Where’s your favourite place to go shopping?

I have to say I love Asda – it’s definitely the place I go to the most! And there are some great deals to be had this time of year!

Where do you like to grab a tea, coffee or a slice of cake?

Even Flow is my favourite place to shoot to for a cup of coffee, to listen to some live music or just to have a look through the records they sell there.

Do you have a preferred restaurant you like to dine in regularly?

The Shuffle House on St John’s Road is a lovely restaurant, they do all kinds of tapas there and their pizzas are brilliant too!

Which places do you take people when they come to visit?

If people are coming to visit I’ll definitely take them to Cluecracker for an escape room experience or two. It’s a fantastically immersive game. Everyone I’ve ever taken there has had a whale of a time.

Where’s the best spot to go for a Sunday stroll in the area?

Again I’d have to say that Dunorlan Park is great to take the family for a nice stroll and just forget about all your worries…

If you’re looking to relax and unwind, where’s your favourite place to go?

I’d probably head to Saint Johns Yard for a drink and burger and just enjoy the day.

Where do you like to meet friends and socialise?

I’d go to the Hollywood Bowl or Odeon Cinema in Knights Park. They are always a great choice for socialising, there’s loads of fun to be had there and lots of different activities to choose from.

What do you like to do when you spend a weekend or day off in the local area?

Having a young daughter we tend to do things that are family orientated, quite often it would be soft play at Saint John’s Swimming Centre for example.

Why do you love where you live?

There’s so much to see and do in Tunbridge Wells. It’s a beautiful part of the country that always has something new going on. There are things to do for everyone – whether you are a family, on your own or meeting with friends.
