Girls’ night out

What the Dickens!
Inspired by Charles Dickens’ classic novel Great Expectations, a ground-breaking new play, Estella will be captivating audiences on July 14 and 15 at Trinity Theatre. Diving straight to the heart of literature’s most mysterious heroine – Estella – three actor-musicians are set to lead a radical re-imagining of her story set against a backdrop of live music and song. Love, marriage and lies
What better way to lift your spirits than to see Shakespeare’s best loved comedy The Merry Wives of Windsor? Facsimile Productions return to Penshurst Place on July 15 for an evening of true entertainment. The talented cast will perform on the South Lawn and guests are encouraged to bring their own seating and a blanket or two as they watch the production overlooking the beautiful Italian garden. Doors open at 5:30pm and an array of delicious food will be available to purchase from the bar before it’s curtains up at 7pm. Child’s play
From July 18 to 19, Eric Carle’s bright and colourful world will be brought to life using a collection of 75 loveable puppets and charming music. Featuring titles loved by every child, including Brown Bear, Brown Bear, 10 Little Rubber Ducks, The Very Lonely Firefly and of course, the star of the show, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, the beautiful production will make for the perfect day out for the little ones. Comedy gold
On July 21 popular comedian Jason Manford arrives in Tunbridge Wells with his new stand-up show Like Me. “In these trying times it’s always important to be able to get away for a couple of hours and exercise the old chuckle muscle,” Jason says. The Absolute Radio star will have you laughing all night long as he promises to bring hilarious, laugh-out-loud material to the Assembly Hall Theatre.

On July 24, The Tunbridge Wells Mela returns to Calverley Grounds between 12pm and 6pm for a cultural celebration from around the world. Marking its 16th year, the festival of music, visual arts, food and dance, both on and off stage, is set to be a sure hit for all ages.
