Zero hours at Kent County Council

Almost 800 Kent County Council employees are currently working on zero hours contracts, new figures have revealed.

The majority of these, 475, are in social care services, while those in education make up the second largest group, 275.

Cllr Gary Cooke, the cabinet member for democratic services, said the council recognised the ‘concerns’ and had switched employees over to alternative contracts where ‘mutually agreed’.
