Taxpayers have the chance to have a say in how they want their money to be spent – and whether they would back a hike in rates.

Kent County Council has launched a six-week public consultation to ‘explain the impending scale of the county council’s budget challenge for next year’.

KCC estimates it needs to save £80 million for the 2016/17 budget.

People will be asked where they want their money to go, as the council faces increasing demand and cuts to central government funding. This includes whether residents would increase a council tax increase of 1.99 per cent, the maximum possible rise without a referendum.
