Woman charged with attempted murder following large-scale police operation in Tunbridge Wells

Police descended on the town on Friday [March 12] afternoon around 1pm to a report that a man had been stabbed at a residential address in Dudley Road.

The road was blocked off by police and an air ambulance landed on the Common. It later airlifted the injured man to a London hospital. His condition is said to be no longer life-threatening.

During the incident last week, buses were diverted and parts of the town centre were cordoned off for parts of the afternoon as police investigated.

A 30-year-old woman, who police say is known to the victim, was arrested close to the scene.

She has now been charged with attempted murder, but police have taken the decision not to name her*.

The woman appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday March 15 and was remanded in custody until she is due to appear before Maidstone Crown Court on April 12.

* The Times does know the identification of the accused but has also taken the decision not to name her.
