Tunbridge Wells’ new Wilko store will open on August 24 on the premises formerly occupied by HMV in Royal Victoria Place.
Until now the nearest location of the bargain homeware store had been 18 miles away in Maidstone. There was speculation that the chain might open an outlet at the former Morrisons store after the supermarket closed in April, but it was confirmed last week that The Range would be taking over the Vale Road site.
