Records tumbled and students celebrated as the borough’s A-level results revealed improvements at many schools and colleges.
At St Gregory’s Catholic School the overall pass rate was 99 per cent with more than 78 per cent of grades being A*-C – a 5 per cent improvement on 2015.
Joe Smith is off to Cambridge University to study chemical engineering after scoring two A*s and two As, and Hannah Layton achieved three A*s.
Sean McQuillan, Head of School, said: “These results show a three-year trend of continued improvement.”
Benenden School equalled last year’s results with 31 per cent of grades being A*. Overall, 73 per cent of all results were A* or A – among the highest ever achieved at the school.
Girls studying further maths, Greek, Latin and Japanese all gained 100 per cent A* grades, with music, politics and Chinese gaining 100 per cent A* or A rates.
Twelve students will be starting at Oxford or Cambridge in the autumn and a further 12 are off to universities in the USA or Canada.
Angela Barel di Sant Albano, who will be heading to Yale, combined her A-level studies with appearing in the film Genius with Colin Firth.
James Holland and Llywelyn Colnet were among the highest achievers at Tunbridge Wells Grammar School for Boys, with four A*s. Overall, almost 60 per cent of grades were A*, A or B.
Students at Bennett Memorial achieved some of the best results in the school’s history, with a record-breaking 57 per cent of passes at A* or B.
Standout performers included Suzan Altinpinar and Elseph Wall, both with two A*s and one A.
At Hillview Sixth Form, 50 per cent achieved A* or Bs and more than 75 per cent secured A* or Cs. Rachel Rose followed up becoming Young Fashion Designer of the Year by gaining two A*s and an A.
Skinners’ Academy had a record-breaking year, with 87 per cent of all grades at A*, A or B and more than 21 per cent at A*. Fifteen students will go to university in Oxford or Cambridge.
Tunbridge Wells Girls’ Grammar School enjoyed similar results to last year, with 52 per cent gaining A* and As and seven girls achieving three A*s.
Pass rates between A* and Bs at Mayfield School were more than 75 per cent, with girls performing best in the sciences.
Tabitha Sternberg Allen, who has already represented GB and the American Quarter Horse Association in international competition, scored three As and will begin a course at the Royal Veterinary College.
Zoe Snowball-Yudowi, who gained two As, is currently dancing in New York on a scholarship and has a number of ballet schools vying to offer her a place. Zoe has also danced with the English National Ballet. She has won a place at Nottingham University to study criminology.
Three quarters of the girls at Kent College, Pembury achieved A*, A or Bs as average university points scores increased. Eleven girls achieved three As or above. International rally-car champion and Deputy Head Girl Catie Munnings scored an A*, A and B.
