Two teens charged in Tonbridge murder

TWO teenagers have been charged with murder following a fatal stabbing last Friday (August 19) in Tonbridge.

A 17-year-old boy from Coulsdon and a 16-year-old boy from Tonbridge are due to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court today (Wednesday, August 24).

The victim has now been named as 20-year-old Thomas Waugh, who was assaulted during the early hours of Friday 19 August 2022. His family has given permission for his picture to be published.

The two suspects were also charged with the attempted robbery of Mr Waugh, as well as an additional count of robbery in relation to two men who had been with him prior to the alleged murder.

The police had also previously arrested a 16-year-old girl and a 47-year-old woman. They have now been released on bail, pending further enquiries, police said on Wednesday.

Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate have appealed for anyone with information, who have not yet contacted police, to contact them on 101, quoting reference 46/YY/13700/22.
